What is HYPNOSIS?

Hypnosis is a normal physiological, altered state of consciousness, similar to, but not the same as being awake. A Hypnotic state creates an increased concentration of the mind and increased relaxation of the body.

Hypnosis is a technique that invokes a soporific feeling to the body.

Hypnosis is not really a sleep state. Hypnosis is a highly concentrated and alert state with the subconscious mind. Example: when you are in a movie theatre and so highly concentrated with the story line.

Under hypnosis the body feels so relaxed because the conscious does not have the stress it had prior to hypnosis.

Why HYPNOSIS?

We think all day. We actually make better decisions when we go by our intuition. We need to be more in touch with feeling instead of thinking. Hypnosis is a “feeling” state.

When we are totally relaxed our body is at its’ “healthiest” state. Isn’t that what everyone is trying to achieve?

Stress causes these symptoms:

  • Spends body resources
  • Decreases gastro-intestinal motility
  • Prepares the body for “fight or flight”
  • Increases blood pressure
  • Constricts muscles
  • Increases heart rate
  • Increases heart rate Increases blood pressure
  • Increases respiratory rate
  • Increases perspiration
  • Causes vasoconstriction
  • Causes papillary dilation
  • Decreases gastro-intestinal motility
  • Stimulates adrenal glands to release the hormones epinephrine and norephinephrine-which stimulate the heart rate.
  • Stress eventually causes “disease”.

    A Healthy state

  • Conserves body resources
  • Generally represents a body calmness
  • Relaxes muscles
  • Decreases heart rate
  • Decreases respiratory rate
  • Decreases blood pressure

A “Healthy” state eventually causes a higher quality of life.
